Year two what what

Hello errbody, just stopped by to say I AM alive, and I have definitely not been mauled and killed by vicious dolphinflys.

I started school a few weeks ago, so I have been very busy, and it will probably continue being the case all semester. I'm taking 4 classes, all math or science. Along with being a TA for intro physics, that means 14 hours of lab a week. Yea. Ouch. But I have become close with a handful of people in each class already, so it will be fun.
And then there's running club, outdoors club, club lacrosse, and soccer. And I go running with anyone I know who mentions it because what's a few more miles.

But most importantly, I also got a job! Sure, its Wendy's but after watching my bank account slowly drop the last two semesters, it will be wonderful to see it going the other way again. As a reward, I bought myself this:
source
A line 6 DL4 delay modeller and stomp box for my guitar. This is going to be a lot of fun. Minus the Bear's Dave Knudson owns numerous and uses them extensively in their music. His work has been the main influence behind my own guitar style this summer, and so besides the fact that I can play a lot more of their songs now that I have a pedal, I am stoked to try out some of the ideas I have had for it in my own head. You can layer with the DL4, so you can set down a chord progression, set it to loop, throw a mid neck riff over that, loop it, add some tremolo arpeggio, and continue until essentially, you're playing guitar in a five guitar band.
Look it up

Layering, man. Its the way to survive in the cold, and its the way to make some really intricate and fun music.
All of this warrants another fuck yea guy. Except that the pedal is on backorder and so I wont have it till the end of this month. Which sucks.
Next week I start the process of trying to add EMT training to the deal, and work for the student ambulance service on campus, to give some credibility to my med school applications next year. Speaking of medicine..

In April, I am probably going to host an event at my college to benefit skin cancer research. It's going to be "Run with Rob" and will literally consist of me running around the academic circle for some random time, maybe 4 hours. The point being to get a good group of people out to see it, maybe run for a bit, and hopefully learn and donate. Now, clubs love getting publicity for themselves to recruit members, and they all like me so all the organizations I have mentioned before will surely participate, and all my friends, and all the friends of all the people in these clubs. That is more then enough people to mean that I will have a good sized chunk of people running with me at any one time. Which is all I need, because once you get to that point, anyone that sees it on campus will come over to investigate, at the very least. There will be some kind of home base on the loop where shirts will be on sale and donations can be made. My team and I could have a lot of fun with this. Use a bullhorn, and spout random facts and trivia about skin cancer or whatever. Make estimates based on group size and how long it has been going on to give updates like 'After two hours, we have ran over derpity derp miles and raised almost herp derp dollars!' Take turns holding a boombox for music. Bring a frisbee and play games while we run.
Maybe if we play this Ally would come

We could talk to local businesses and try to get sponsors, sodexo or price chopper or something to provide food. Maybe talk to a local hospital's dermatology department to donate little sample packs of sun block, along those lines, because everyone loves free stuff. And then after the fact I could go in the metaphorical propped open door and maybe get some time interning, or volunteering in the same hospital. What what bonus motives.
The point is, it has a lot of potential to be really cool. Between the selling of shirts, and donations from people that get a good laugh after seeing a huge mob running down the sidewalk it could accomplish something to be proud of.
And all you internetz people are invited! If it really happens I expect to see you all in Binghamton!

In essence, all this is why I have been so busy. I have been writing for a bit before bed, and there is a post nearing conclusion, about a trip my sister and I took to NYC this summer. So keep a lookout for that, and watch out for those dolphinflys.
